Thank you for attending COCA's AGM & CSAO Tribute Luncheon
Thank you to everyone who attended COCA's Annual General Meeting on Thursday February 25, 2010 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Toronto Airport.
The day started off with a presentation from Scotia Bank Senior Vice President and Chief Economist Warren Jestin entitled "From Recession to Recovery" which offered a cautiously optimistic look at Canada's economic future.
Mr. Jestin was followed by a construction industry panel composed of Sam Costa, President of C&T Reinforcing Steel, Domenic Mattina, Vice President of Sales and Estimating at Mattina Mechanical, Paul Raboud, President and CEO of Bird Construction and James Zippel, Vice President Building Services, Eastern Canada EllisDon Corporation. The panel had a lively discussion about how the economic downturn has affected their businesses in the last year and where they are focusing their efforts to assure a successful 2010.
Next up was the Annual General Meeting portion of the day where COCA's 2010 Board of Directors was elected and Past Chair Jim Coates was awarded the second annual Chair's Award for his many significant contributions to COCA and the Ontario construction industry.
The highlight of the day was the Construction Safety Association of Ontario Tribute Luncheon. After WSIB Chair Steve Mahoney offered his thanks and congratulations to the CSAO a touching tribute was presented by longtime CSAO employee and industry safety expert Dan Padden. Taking the audience from the early years right up to the present Mr. Padden brought the details of the CSAO's 80 years of service to life.
A very special thank you to Dan Padden for developing and delivering the CSAO tribute on COCA's behalf and to our event sponsors the Ontario Painting Contractors Association, Ontario Power Generation and AECON.
