The IHSA was founded in January 2010 by amalgamating the Construction Safety Association of Ontario, the Electrical & Utilities Safety Association of Ontario and the Transportation Health and Safety Association of Ontario. IHSA offers training programs, auditing and consulting services, and health and safety resources.

A Not-For-Profit corporation formed in 1996 to establish a call centre to receive excavator locate requests within the Province of Ontario and to notify the members with underground facilities in the vicinity of the dig site.
